Hypnosis to reduce or stop excessive drinking, alcohol dependency and alcoholism

Are you drinking alcohol regularly?

Do you want to break that drinking habit and take back control?

What Eve does is to help you break that cycle and keep you going once you have begun to make the changes.  This can be done easier than you think.  To find new ways to change, call the Surrey Hypnosis Clinic.

Drinking alcohol is an ever increasing and popular activity.  Today's work pressure, peer pressure and emotional issues can easily lead to excessive drinking or to binge drinking behaviour.

Hypnotherapy can help you regain control of drinking alcohol, or help give up drinking altogether.

To find out more, call Eve at the Surrey Hypnosis Clinic on 01276 65598.  Or alternatively you can email info@surreyhypnosisclinic.co.uk.

Testimonial:

"Thank you for helping me control and ultimately change my drinking habit.  The desire for a drink is not there and my new habit of not drinking is now the norm.  I am converted from a previous sceptic to a preacher of your work!

How Hypnosis can help

Using a brief therapy approach, hypnosis is used in conjunction with cognitive and behavioural techniques and direct suggestions.  You can tell if it is working within the first two sessions.  Sometimes people have noticed a change after the first session.

Excessive drinking can be result of habitual behaviours.  Drinking can also be the result of psychological behaviours where alcohol is used as an anaesthetic to reduce emotional pain, to provide a release from stress or relationship problems or past trauma.  Usually someone who uses alcohol to cope with, or escape from, emotions or memories has developed drinking as a coping strategy.

In either situation, hypnotherapy can bring about a rapid change in the ways you feel and behave by communicating with the part of your mind that controls the habits and the emotions.

If you begin to feel that you can't function without having an alcoholic drink or you notice that a day doesn't go by without alcohol and you want to be rid of that dependency, then you can seek help through hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

To find new ways of coping or to help break the habit, call the Surrey Hypnosis Clinic.

Know your Limits

Men should not regularly drink more than three to four units of alcohol per day.

Women should not regularly drink more than two to three units of alcohol per day.

     Cider                 - 1 pint         - ABV 5.3%     = 3 units

     Cider                 - 1/2 print     - ABV 5.3%     = 1.5 units

     Red Wine          - 125 ml        - ABV 12.5%   = 1.6 units

     Sambuca           - one shot    - ABV 42%      = 1 unit

     Lager                - bottle         - ABV 5.2%     = 1.7 units

     Lager                - 1/2 pint      - ABV 5.2%     = 1.7 units

     Alcopop             - bottle         - ABV 5%        = 1.4 units

     Gin & Tonic        - single         - ABV 40%      = 1 unit

     Cognac             - double        - ABV 40%      = 2 units

     Champagne      - 175 ml        - ABV 11.5%   = 2 units

     Whisky & Coke  - double       - ABV 40%      = 2 units

     Bitter                 - pint            - ABV 5%        = 2.8 units

     White Wine       - 175 ml        - ABV 13%      = 2.3 units

     Lager                - pint            - ABV 5.2%      = 3 units

     Wine                - Bottle        - ABV 13.5%  = 10 units

The unit limit is lower for women because women's bodies have less water and a higher ratio of fat than men, making women less able to dilute alcohol in the body.  Therefore women do not process alcohol as effectively.  To help you, use the the calculator by entering the drink type, strength of drink and quantity to calculate the units.

Facts about Alcohol

The popularity of alcohol probably stems from its effects on the central nervous system that allows the drinker to become less inhibited.

It is also a muscle relaxant which explains the sense of relaxation that can accompany its consumption.

In small quantities it can affect judgment and concentration levels.

In larger quantities it can affect speech, memory, co-ordination, judgment and can cause sedation.

In extremely high quantities it can cause loss of normal bodily functions and overwhelming emotions.  Even loss of consciousness and death can occur as alcohol is effectively a poison.

Being tipsy or drunk is the direct result of its toxic effect on the various parts of the body.

Long term drinking can cause physical symptoms and illnesses such as:

  • hypertension
  • impotence
  • loss of libido
  • fertility reduction
  • cirrhosis of the liver to name but a few.
